Honda Mean Mower V2 hits 100 mph in 6.2-seconds

Honda was showing off its Mean Mower V2 about a year ago, and the mower was very impressive. This year Honda is focusing on using the Mean mower to set a Guinness World Record. The mower recently averaged a 0-100 mph time of only 6.285 seconds. That is the time it takes many cars to reach 60 mph.

The Guinness World Record adjudicator was on hand for the 0-100 mph attempt near Dresden, Germany on May 6, 2019, at Dekra Lausitzring. The person behind the wheel of Honda's Mean Mower V2 is a stunt driver, kart racer, and car racer called Jess Hawkins.

To set the official world record, the Mean Mower had to prove acceleration over two runs in opposite directions with the average time taken for the final judgment. Honda had originally said that the Mean Mower V2 was aiming for 150 mph.

The automaker took the Mean Mower on a longer run and recorded a top speed of 150.99 mph besting its goal slightly. The crazy part is that Mean Mower V2 can still cut grass. The vehicle is powered by a 999cc four-cylinder engine from a CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle.

That big four makes 200 bhp at 13,000 rpm. All that power goes into a lawn mower that is 69.1 kg giving it a power to weight ratio of 1000bhp/ton. The Fireblade motorcycle also donated its clutch, ECU, six-speed transmission, and LCD. Brakes included four-piston calipers in front and six-piston units in the rear. The video above shows the runs and the official record being granted. We wonder what Honda will have in store for Mean Mower V3.
