Sony unveils new CECH-ZVS1 surround sound AIO solution for PS3

As much as Sony wants to call the new CECH-ZVS1 a surround sound system for the PS3, that's not what this thing is. There are no rear channel speakers. The system is a sound bar. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, especially if you don't want wires running everywhere in your room.

The device will be priced very competitively at $199 and it will let the user enjoy better sound from the PS3 and will work for games and movies. Sony has optimized the soundboard to deliver a virtual surround sound environment.

The soundbar has 10W per channel and uses two active 65mm subs and four passive radiators. Inputs include a single analog and a single optical. The device supports Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC, Linear PCM, and has stereo sound. The system will ship this fall.
