Here's how to get around the Fortnite 'update stuck' bug on iOS

Fortnite mobile players on iOS are reporting a bug that causes the most recent update to become 'stuck' after downloading only a couple megabytes. Epic has acknowledged the issue and provided an official workaround that, while inconvenient, will enable players to get back into the game despite the problem. Players will need to use this workaround until Epic is able to push out a bug fix.READ: Fortnite v9.30 patch notes: Chug Splash and a twist on hide and seek

The problem has appeared only on iOS, according to Epic, and it impacts players attempting to download the new version 9.30 update released earlier today.

Updating is necessary in order to play the game, but iOS mobile players say the update process becomes stuck after downloading 2.82MB.

The update is only stuck in appearance, Epic revealed in a tweet today. The update is in fact still downloading, users just can't see it happening due to some issue that causes the progress bar to freeze.

The solution is simple: just leave the app open and running (meaning in the foreground on the iPhone or iPad) for up to 10 minutes while the download and installation take place.

The exact wait time will depend on your Internet and device, possibly ranging from a few minutes to several or more. Once the update is downloaded and installed, the game will load like usual and everything will work as expected. The company plans to fix the issue, though it's unclear how long that may take.
