HBO's Silicon Valley will end with a short sixth season

The HBO comedy Silicon Valley from Mike Judge will end with its sixth season, according to a new report. The show's last season will also reportedly be cut short at only seven episodes total, the report claims, wrapping up what has been a popular, though relatively short-lived, series on the five young men behind a Silicon Valley startup.Silicon Valley is a satire of the tech industry, presenting the reality of a group of men who founded a startup and everything that comes with it. The show first aired in April 2014 to critical acclaim and has enjoyed a solid fan base in the few years since its release. The show comes from Mike Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky.

News of the show's inevitable end comes from Variety, which reports that HBO plans to end the series after seven episodes comprising a sixth season. Assuming the report is correct, this will be Silicon Valley's shortest season. In a statement, show Judge and executive producer Alec Berg said:

Silicon Valley has been a career and life highlight for us. We'll miss it desperately, but we've always let Pied Piper's journey guide the way, and Season 6 seems to be the fitting conclusion. We are forever indebted to our incredible cast, crew, and partners at HBO. At a certain point, there's only so much we can do to make the world a better place.

As with other HBO programming, the series is available to stream on the company's HBO NOW on-demand platform. The last episode of Season 5 aired on May 13, 2018. The show's final season is delayed until this summer due to Berg's obligations with the HBO comedy Barry.
