Happy Thanksgiving from SlashGear!

It's Thanksgiving today, and the SlashGear team will be taking a break to enjoy the day with family and friends.  We'd like to say a big collective "thank you!" to all of the manufacturers, PR people and, most of all, you the readers, for keeping us informed, keeping us on our toes, and keeping yourselves opinionated!  I've also been asking the team what they'd individually like to give thanks for; Vincent's you can see here, the rest are behind the cut.

Ewdi:

I'm thankful for great health, family, and superb business partners.  I'm thankful for being able to work with bunch of great people.

Brenda:

If you were to ask me what I'm thankful for any day out of the year, I'd have to first mention my family. I'm thankful to have the best boyfriend in the world. I'm thankful for my parents and that my dad is moving slowly back to good health. I'm grateful to have wonderful pets that are like my kids.

I'm so glad to have a steady job (thanks SlashGear!) and to be able to write everyday in a capacity that is actually read by, you know, people. I'm thankful for quiet evenings with no to-do lists. Hours long WoW sessions make me happy and getting things in the mail after watching the package tracking like a hawk is fantastic. Excellent customer service is also a reason to be thankful. I'm thankful for good books that provide an exit hatch from the world. Great music gives me an excuse to hum through the day. And back-to-back Olbermann and Maddow make for lively dinner debates.

So what's all this mean? It means I'm thankful for the little things that make life enjoyable. Sharing a little kindness each day, even a smile to a stranger, can make a big difference in the world around us.  Maybe everyday we should think of what we're thankful for and the smile that results can make someone else's day a bit more bearable. Maybe? It's a thought, anyway.

Daniel:

This time of the year is usually so much easier; cheering for millionaire athletes on the traditional Thanksgiving football games, mouthful and stuffed for the rest of the turkey day. Not entirely how the America's Founders would have wanted to have found this special day – Family and Friendship, kindness and gratitude.

Clichéd as it may seem, I have the usual thoughts of Thanksgiving being a day to take stock of life as it currently stands, express appreciation and gratitude for all our blessings. Celebrating the origins or just another holiday, we all have things we are thankful for.

"If a fellow isn't thankful for what he's got, he isn't likely to be thankful for what he's going to get."

I wouldn't skip the game or the food, but I am truly thankful for my friends, coworkers and families. Without them, living would be a pretty lonely and rough journey to go though.

Skip the Cliché. I'm thankful for HDTV and the Blu-ray format, the Thanksgiving football looks twice as good broadcast in HD. Planet Earth makes me want to jump on the Himalayas in search for the snow leopard. I'm glad my cable service provider TWC finally got around to add a new HD line-up and the speedy internet connection, but I would be more thankful when FIOS crews show up digging up my yard.

I'm thankful for discovering digital photography, spending ten of thousands of dollars on digital camera equipment makes me feel like a pro with little talent. Last but not least, I am thankful for SlashGear and the readers continued support. Joining SlashGear is the coolest techie adventure ever – no job has more fun and excitement than being able to talk about the newest and greatest gadgets, first hand.

Happy Thanksgiving! Go Cowboys!

Shawn:

When I hear the word thankful, the first things that come to mind are the people around me who affect my life every day. From my friends to my family, I am so grateful to have them in my life. I am thankful for every day for the one who manages to put a smile on my face no matter what. I could not be more thankful for the people in my life with such big hearts, they are always here for me day in and day out. I am thankful for the opportunity to go back and make up for lost time and missed opportunities. For my dogs that are always right there to put a smile on my face and help me relax me up when I'm feeling stressed.

I am also thankful for my good health. Too often I see others whose lives are greatly affected by health problems and I can't help but to stop and think how different my life would be if I were in their situation. I do not take for granted a single day that I wake up in good health.

Lastly but surely not the least of which I am thankful for the wealth of opportunities in my life. One of which is my job, which could not have come around at a better time. I now have the opportunity to do something that I would never have imagined in my entire life and I absolutely love it. The guys I work with are always there willing to help when I need them. Despite unfortunate events I have been very fortunate throughout my life.

Finally, I'd like to thank the team for their constant hard work and imagination, my partner for putting up with less than typical work hours, and our families on both sides of the Atlantic.  I'm thankful for the opportunities for adventure I've had this year, some of which went as planned and others less so, and for the support during those times.  I hope the SlashGear readership gets as much pleasure from the site as we have in writing for it.  Happy Thanksgiving!
