Halo Top Keto Series ice cream offers traditional flavors for dieters

Halo Top, the company best known for its low-calorie but somewhat expensive ice cream, is back with a new product called Keto Series. As its name suggests, these new ice cream products are specifically made for people sticking to the popular keto diet, something that involves consuming low quantities of carbohydrates and greater amounts of fat and protein.

The Halo Top Keto Series is launching with a total of seven flavors, including many traditional options like Peanut Butter Chocolate, Banana Cream Pie, Caramel Butter Pecan, and White Chocolaty Macadamia Nut. Calorie counts for each product are a bit higher than you're likely used to seeing associated with the name Halo Top.

The Peanut Butter Chocolate Keto Series ice cream, for example, has 630 calories per pint and, on the opposite end of the scale, the Berry Swirl version has 410 calories per pint. The key point, however, is that these products have very low amounts of carbohydrates — between five and 10 net carbs per pint, depending on the version.

According to the company, it makes its Keto Series using ultra-filtered skim milk rather than regular milk. As well, the company promises that its Keto Series tastes just as good as regular ice cream. The company is rolling out the Keto Series products in grocery stores across the US.

With this latest addition, Halo Top offers a total of 40 flavors with both ice cream and non-dairy frozen dessert options. It's unclear whether there are any plans to expand the number of flavors offered under the Keto Series — that'll likely depend on the popularity of the products, though only time will tell.
