Halo Online closed beta launches in Russia

The latest announcement for the Halo world will leave PC gamers anywhere but Russia feeling left out. 343 Industries has announced that it has been working on a project with partners Saber Interactive and Innova Systems called Halo Online. Halo Online is an all-new and completely free multiplayer PC experience that will launch in Russia.

Russian gamers will get to partake in the new online experience starting this spring, while the rest of the world gets to sit back and wonder if they will get the chance to try it out. Halo Online is powered by a "highly modified" version of the Halo 3 engine that has been optimized to play smoothly on lower-end PCs.

The game has no campaign mode and is set on a secret USNC space installation called Anvil. Anvil is where Spartan-IV soldiers train in war exercises to improve skills and test new tech.

The Halo Online closed beta will see gameplay adjusted and tweaked during testing and the game will have an in-game economy. I presume that to mean there will be a way to earn money of some sort to be spent on upgrades in the game. Halo Online will be offered via the Innova 4game platform. There is no launch date at this time for the full game.
