Hackers crash car computer while car is driving

We all know that just about anything with a computer can be hacked from ATM machines to smartphones. You probably also know that there are lots of computerized gear inside your average car today. What you might not have considered is that those computerized car systems are subject to hacks too.

A team of researchers at a university has devised a way to hack into a car's warning system via wireless sensors. The sensors used are the TPMS sensors used in the wheels to monitor tire pressure.

The upside to the hack is that the method isn't an open door into all car computers. The researchers were able to get into the test system only after figuring out the cars "secret knock" they could access the computer and send fake warning messages from 40 meters away at highway speeds. Eventually the hackers crashed the cars computer.
