VW ID. SPACE VIZZION Gallery

Just how flexible is Volkswagen's MEB platform? Pretty darn flexible indeed, as the seven concepts – and counting – the automaker has debuted over the last few years demonstrates well. Next up is the VW ID. SPACE VIZZION, and it's arguably the most unusual car so far.

Part wagon, part four-door Gran Turismo, part... flattened SUV, maybe, the ID. SPACE VIZZION is VW's idea of a super-aerodynamic luxury four-seater. Rear-wheel drive, and expected to get around 300 miles of driving on a full charge, it does away with bulky gas engines and instead uses that space for aero routing and long, sleek style.

Strangest thing of all, VW says that it may well put the ID. SPACE VIZZION into production. That, after all, is the benefit of a common platform like MEB: even relatively low-volume cars can still be financially feasible.
