VW ID. ROOMZZ Gallery

VW's ID. family of electric cars is gaining one of its largest members, with the ID. ROOMZZ joining the crew. A three-row SUV, the new model is, like its siblings, based on Volkswagen's MEB electrified platform. In this case, there's electric 4MOTION all-wheel drive, with motors on both axles.

Inside, there's no shortage of space from this roughly 16 feet long SUV. VW envisages the concept having Level 4 autonomous drive, in which mode the seats could be folded flat into beds, or tilted inward for a more lounge-like feeling. The steering wheel and instrumentation are integrated into a single unit, which retracts out of the way when the ID. ROOMZZ is piloting itself.

Like others in the ID. concept family, the ROOMZZ has a production future ahead of it. VW says the series model car – which is likely to leave out things like fully-autonomous driving – will head to China first.
