Tackling Spain in the 2018 Volvo XC60

First of the new 60 Series, the 2018 Volvo XC60 is a pretty important car for the Swedish automaker. Even in its current aging state, the existing XC60 remains Volvo's most popular model. Now, based on the SPA platform that underpins the XC90 SUV, S90 sedan, and V90 Cross Country wagon, the new XC60 is ushering in a new age of 60 Series cars.

Styling borrows from both the well-esteemed old car and the newer XC90. Under the hood there are Volvo's T5, T6, and – later in the year – T8 Twin Engine hybrid engines, all 4-cylinders with various supercharging, turbocharging, and electrification add-ons. Interior passenger room is up, and the popular Sensus infotainment system is fitted as standard, now with a revamped UI.

Pricing kicks off in the low-$40s, with options including Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving, various advanced active safety features on top of the healthy list of those fitted as standard, and luxury affair like massage seats. It'll appear in showrooms come August.
