Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III Gallery

Sony has revealed its new flagship smartphones for 2021, and the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III continue the company's big push to make mobile photographers its biggest fans. The new Xperia 1 III packs a 6.5-inch 120Hz 4K OLED 21:9 display and three cameras, the primary sensor being a 12-megapixel f/1.7 with Dual PDAF OIS. It's joined by a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto with both 70mm and 105mm discrete focal lengths.

A 12-megapixel ultra-wide rounds things out, alongside a time-of-flight sensor for depth data. There's also plenty of Sony Alpha tech here, including real-time Eye AF, Optical SteadyShot with FlawlessEye, and up to 4K HDR 120fps Cinema Pro video. A new camera app offers both a basic mode and a more advanced P/S/M/Auto mode.

The Xperia 5 III has the same cameras though misses out on the ToF sensor. It also has a smaller, lower-resolution display. However both have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 inside, plus 5G support for Sub-6 GHz networks. They'll go on sale in the US come summer 2021.
