Nissan IMQ Concept Gallery

Nissan has a new concept crossover, but the IMQ is more than just a flight of fancy by the automaker's design team. Instead, the four-seater SUV previews the aesthetic direction of Nissan's third-generation crossovers. That means a more subtle grille design and stronger surfacing.

Inside, each of the four seats uses a 3D technical fabric, cut by lasers into a geometric pattern. The driver gets a 33-inch display and a separate screen for the augmented reality avatar of the IMQ's digital co-pilot. Huge doors, rear-hinged at the back, maximizes ease of entry.

As for the drivetrain, that's Nissan's e-POWER system. A 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine is joined by electric motors; the result is AWD and individually controllable torque to each wheel. Expect to see more of the IMQ's design and tech details in future production cars, even if this concept itself won't make it to dealerships.
