Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio Gallery

Part laptop, part tablet, and all Surface: that's Microsoft's big pitch for the Surface Laptop Studio. The latest addition to the Surface range looks like no notebook before it. Rather than a detachable screen section, it offers a new Dynamic Woven Hinge that allows the 14.4-inch touchscreen to be pulled forward, either to hover above the keyboard or to cover it completely.

That way, it can be more readily used with the new Surface Slim Pen 2. That recharges in a dock above the keyboard, and has a haptic motor inside for Windows 11 app feedback as you ink and annotate. Keeping the Surface Laptop Studio going, meanwhile, is a choice of either a quad-core Intel 11th Gen Core H35 i5-11300H CPU or a Core H35 i7-11370H. The former has Intel Iris Xe Graphics; the latter gets a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU with 4GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory or – in the commercial SKU – an NVIDIA RTX A2000 GPU with 4GB of its own memory.

A removable SSD, USB 4.0 ports with Thunderbolt 4 support, and WiFi 6 round out the key specs. Battery life is up to 19 hours, CPU-depending. The Surface Laptop Studio is priced from $1,599.99.
