An AMG hybrid? Stranger things have happened, and the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept previews just what such a car might look like. Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 today, the slinky four-door may look like it rocks gasoline alone, but a EQ Power+ badge suggests there's something more afoot.

In fact, the concept car gets both a gas and an electric drivetrain combined. Given this is an AMG, mind, we're not talking about some squeaky little three-cylinder: instead, the GT Concept packs a V8 gas engine along with its high-performance electric motor. That's enough for 600 kW – or more than 800 HP – in its current form, Mercedes-AMG says.

In total, you're looking at a 0-62 mph run in under three seconds. If the batteries run low they can recover power through regenerative braking or by using the 4.0-liter gas engine as a generator. While the GT Concept may not make it to the road as you see here, expect future Mercedes-AMG production cars to rock a very similar hybrid system in the future.
