Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro isn’t short on power, but ports are another matter. If you’re not entirely on the USB-C train yet there are plenty of docking stations and dongles which will promise to address that, but none quite so sleek as Line’s Linedock 16″. It combines not only a dock but an external battery and, optionally, an SSD for external storage too.
It’s all packaged into a slab of aluminum that matches the footprint of the MacBook Pro 16 perfectly. That means you can stack the laptop on top of the Linedock, without taking up any more space on the desk. Inside there’s a 99.9 Wh battery, enough for a full charge of Apple’s laptop.
As for ports, you get two full-sized SD card readers, three USB Type-A, and two USB-C, plus HDMI and DisplayPort on the back. 1TB and 2TB SSDs are available, or you can skip the onboard storage altogether. It’s available now, priced from $479.
