Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept Gallery

Infinti wants to make sedans cool again, and this is how it plans to do it. The Infiniti Q Inspiration, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show 2018 this week, is a four-door aimed at design-savvy, demanding drivers younger than the typical sedan buyer. In the process, it previews the automaker's styling, infotainment, and powertrain directions of tomorrow.

The latter is arguably most important. The VC-Turbo delivers what Infiniti says is the horsepower of a turbocharged gas engine or hybrid, but the fuel economy and torque of a diesel, courtesy of variable compression ratios. It's paired with the automaker's latest ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving systems, which work as a co-pilot for safety and convenience but still leave the person behind the wheel in final control.

Meanwhile, the exterior is that of a sleek, swooping four-door-coupe, wrapped around a four-seat interior that's more like an architect's home than a car cabin. Figure on dimpled leather, unusual Japanese birch wood, and lots of LED lighting and touchscreens.
