Infiniti has promised an all-electrified range from 2021, and it’s getting there with some charmingly retro concepts. Following last year’s Prototype 9 is this, the Infiniti Prototype 10. Based on the idea of a classic California speedster, it trades gasoline for an all-electric drivetrain.
The body is a combination of old-school and new, with Infiniti’s design studios across the globe collaborating on the style. No passenger seat, just a simplified cabin with the bare minimum of controls for the driver. The mixture of smooth lines and sharply angled detailing is meant to remind you of electricity itself.
Infiniti won’t be making the Prototype 10 for the showroom, but it does preview some of the company’s future design language. As for the electrification, that will take two forms. Infiniti will have both fully-electric vehicles and e-POWER hybrids, just to assuage that range anxiety.
