Audi A6 e-tron Concept Gallery

Audi seems to be making a habit of previewing near-production-ready versions of upcoming models with its concepts. The Audi e-tron GT was excellent example of that, effectively a production car with its door handles and side mirrors deleted to make a concept preview, and now the Audi A6 e-tron Concept looks to do pretty much the same. According to Audi, the EV you see here is about 95-percent what it'll launch as the A6 e-tron in a couple of years time.

It's based on the PPE platform, the all-electric architecture that Audi co-developed with Porsche. That'll go on to underpin models in some of the automaker's most successful segments, and indeed the production A6 e-tron will be the second vehicle in Audi's portfolio to use it. First will be the Q6 e-tron SUV, which we're expecting to see officially debut in 2022.

For the A6 e-tron Concept, there's some clever lighting effects thanks to an array of projectors around the car. That allows it to beam graphics onto the roadway, helping pedestrians and other drivers better understand upcoming maneuvers. Underneath it all, PPE will offer both RWD single-motor and AWD e-quattro dual-motor configurations to begin with, along with a roughly 100 kWh battery that Audi says is rated for more than 435 miles on the WLTP cycle, and can charge – on a 270 kW DC fast charger – for 180 miles of driving in ten minutes.
