Apple’s AirPods Pro join the now three-strong wireless earbuds range, offering active noise cancellation along with the famed AirPods convenience. Completely redesigned, the new earbuds now use a silicone tip for better fit in your ears. The stem is shorter, too, for a less obvious look.
The big change is ANC. Apple’s H1 chipset is responsible for that, using microphones on the outside and inside of the earbuds to iron out external noise whether you’re in a city, an office, or on a plane. The H1 adjusts its algorithms 200 times a second.
“Hey Siri” is still supported, and battery life matches the AirPods’ five hours of listening with ANC turned off. Switch it on, and that dips to 4.5 hours. With the case, you’re looking at more than 24 hours overall. A Transparency mode allows the AirPods Pro to allow through ambient sound to keep you feeling connected with the outside world.
