2022 Volvo C40 Recharge Gallery

Second all-electric car in Volvo's Recharge family, the C40 Recharge brings back a familiar name for its crossover-coupe styling. Similar under the skin to the XC40 Recharge, this new version has a sweeping fastback roofline – much like, it has to be said, the Polestar 2 – for a more dramatic aesthetic, though Volvo says those inside will get the higher seating position that they generally prefer.

Under the sheet metal there are twin electric motors for all-wheel drive. Figure on 408 horsepower and up to 660 Nm of torque, good for 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph. It'll be rated to tow 4,000 pounds, and the 78 kWh pack is expected to deliver around 210 miles of US EPA range.

It'll support 150 DC fast charging, for an 80-percent charge in around 40 minutes. Volvo will only be selling the Recharge models online from now on, including under its Care by Volvo subscription system. Pricing for the 2022 C40 Recharge will be confirmed closer to its launch, with production kicking off later in 2021.
