2022 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC Gallery

If the 4.6 second 0-60 time of your Mercedes-Maybach S 650 simply wasn't good enough, fear not. The automaker is back with a new version of the super-lavish sedan, keeping the V12 bi-turbo gas engine but adding 4MATIC all-wheel drive for the first time. That, in the shape of the Mayback S 680 4MATIC, trims the time to 60 to 4.4 seconds.

The 6.0-liter V12 sticks with 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, plus the same 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. There's a new "Maybach" drive mode in the Dynamic Select system, which delivers what Mercedes describes as "maximum ride comfort and smooth acceleration" to avoid unsettling those in the rear seats. Rear-axle steering is also available, plus a striking two-tone exterior paint job.

Of course, luxury comes as standard, with Nappa Leather on almost every surface you can imagine, and an upgrade to the Bumester High-End 4D Surround Sound System. That adds active road noise compensation. Expect this even-fancier Mayback in US dealerships sometime in the first half of 2022.
