2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Gallery

Mercedes isn't short on heritage, but the Mercedes-AMG SL still manages to fight its way to the top. All-new for the 2022 model year, the AMG SL 55 and AMG SL 63 aim to show rivals just what a 2+2 roadster should look, sound, and perform like. For that, AMG has turned to its familiar 4.0-liter V8 biturbo.

In the 2022 AMG SL 55 that's tuned for 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, enough for 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.8 seconds. The 2022 AMG SL 63 upgrades those numbers to 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, trimming the 0-60 mph time to an estimated 3.5 seconds. For the first time in SL history, AMG will be using AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, too.

There's also AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, standard rear-axle steering, and a custom ceramic composite brakes system. No parts in the entire body are shared with either the old SL or indeed other Mercedes convertibles, such as the AMG GT Roadster. Expect it to arrive in the US in the first half of 2022.
