Most potent of Bentley’s luxury SUV family, the 2021 Bentayga Speed promises no shortage of grunt. Under the hood there’s a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine, its twelve cylinders good for 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. It’s enough for 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph.
Peak torque hits from just 1,500 rpm and lasts all the way to 5,000 rpm, Bentley says, while when you’re in less of a hurry the Bentayga Speed can deactivate half of its cylinders or even decouple the engine altogether and “sail” in the name of frugality. Outside, there’s a dark-tint to most of the brightwork, plus a new elongated tail spoiler and unique 22-inch wheels. The Black Specification goes even further, replacing the chrome with gloss-black trim instead.
On the inside, the new infotainment system takes pride of place in the Bentayga’s refreshed cabin. Here, too, there are unique finishes, including “swooshes” of contrast color and Alcantara. The Mulliner Driving Specification is standard-fit. Expect sales to kick off in the US come Q1 2021, with the Bentayga Speed starting at $245,000.
