Trucks are going upscale, and the 2019 Sierra Denali wants a slice of the action. All-new for the 2019 model year, the new luxe-pickup gets updated engines, a new 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel, and a more upscale interior. That includes lashings of higher-quality leather, real open-pore wood, and dark-finish aluminum trim.
The tech gets an upgrade, too. There’s a rear camera mirror available, together with a multi-color head-up display, both firsts for the segment. The box can be finished in carbon fiber, which is lighter and more rugged than a regular pickup box. New trailer technologies help with hitching.
Most exciting for pickup owners, however, is going to be the new tailgate. Now with a second tailgate section built-in, it’s more flexible for loading and transporting. GMC calls it MultiPro, and it’ll be standard on the Denali and SLT models.
