2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Gallery

Mercedes' smallest car is growing up, with the 2019 A-Class cherry-picking technology from its bigger siblings as it enters its fourth generation. Now larger than before, with more interior space and a more aggressive design, the new A-Class will launch as a five-door hatchback in Europe. Eventually, there'll be a four-door sedan A-Class for the US market.

Three engines will be offered in Europe at first, two gas and one diesel, with up to 224 horsepower. 4MATIC all-wheel drive will be optional, as will adaptive suspension. The S-Class' semi-autonomous driving modes will be brought down to the A-Class, too, along with a bevy of new active safety systems.

Inside, a more open dashboard will emphasize cabin space. Up to twin 10.25-inch freestanding displays are available, and color-changing lighting with 64 different hues. You can even have an Alexa-style trigger word – "Hey Mercedes" – to activate the natural language voice recognition.
