BMW promised us a new convertible, and it has delivered in spades. The 2019 BMW Z4 Roadster makes its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2018, ahead of its arrival in dealerships in early 2019. A year after BMW previewed the two-seater with a design concept, it’s clear this roadster has grown up.
Outside, crisper lines and an oversized grille with a distinctive mesh start things off well. Stacked headlamps are a relatively new look for BMW, while an integrated spoiler at the rear gives the Z4’s tail an unusual finish. Inside, there’s plenty of tech and no shortage of screens, including a BMW Roadster-first: a head-up display.
First to market will be the 2019 Z4 M40i First Edition, complete with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. There’ll also be a regular M40i version, along with a 2019 Z4 30i. All will get a soft-top convertible roof.
