BMW has revealed its sixth-generation M5, with the super-sedan headed to dealerships in 2018. The 2018 M5 packs a twin-turbo V8 with 600 HP and 553 lb-ft. of torque, and for the first time will have all-wheel drive as standard. However, the AWD system is a cunning one.

Thanks to various selectable drive modes, there's the option to change how the AWD performs. You can even switch it into a complete rear-wheel drive mode, with no DSC active. That way, the automaker says, you'll get the best of both worlds.

Meanwhile, there's M compound brakes as standard and M carbon ceramic brakes as an option. BMW further trimmed the bulk by using carbon fiber reinforced plastic for the roof, along with a special weight-optimized exhaust system. First off will come a 50 car run of the M5 First Edition, expected to arrive in the spring of 2018.
