There’s no mistaking that blue. Volvo fans tongue-in-cheek refer to it as “Swedish Racing Green” and sure enough the distinctive hue will forever be associated with Polestar. Now in-house at Volvo, the tuning team has grown from 15 people just eighteen months, to almost 100.
Along the way they’ve helped their racing team win championship titles, and still had time to develop the 2017 V60 and S60 Polestar road cars. At only 1,500 for the 2017 model year, these are seriously exclusive Swedish beasts, and they’re pretty darn special, too. Out goes the in-line 6-cylinder engine of the old car, replaced with a turbocharged and supercharged 4-cylinder.
Horsepower is up, and the car rides a whole lot more balanced on its AWD. Volvo will sell you four different colors and two body styles, but aficionados know the score. If it’s not a bright blue wagon, then it’s not worth doing.
