2017 Toyota 86 Gallery

No, your eyes do not deceive you. The 2017 86 may have Toyota's badge on the hood, but it's already well-known in the US as the Scion FR-S. With the demise of Toyota's millennially-focused sub-brand, the FR-S gets some tweaks to styling and powertrain to become this, the most entertaining car in Toyota's current line-up.

The modifications are fairly slight, but enough to coax a few horsepower more out of the 2.0-liter engine, at least when paired with Toyota's 6-speed manual transmission. Even so, power isn't the 86's true forte. That's delivering far more entertainment at legal speeds than most automotive exotica can promise.

Inside, the cabin gets some new trim but remains a fairly sober experience. The cloth seats are comfortable and supportive; the rear seats are useful mainly as punishment for those you dislike. Still, there aren't many new cars delivering as much fun on the road as this for the price.
