2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and S63 AMG Cabriolet Gallery

There's nothing quite like a vast, super-luxurious cabriolet to make you feel special about your hedge fund, and nobody quite makes just such a car like Mercedes-Benz. The S550 Cabriolet is Germanic droptop excess at its finest, carrying over all the gadgetry, comfort, and performance from its sober sedan sibling, but losing the roof.

That's no small matter, given you have plenty of space inside for you and three of your power-broker friends. The doors from the S Coupe give plenty of room for rear-seat passengers to clamber in and out.

Those really in the mood for extravagance eschew even the S550 Cabriolet as too mainstream and opt instead for its Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet cousin. That switches the regular 4.7-liter Biturbo V8 – with its 449 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque – for a 5.5-liter V8 with 577 HP and 664 lb-ft. 0-60 mph is cut from 4.5 seconds to just 3.8 seconds in the process, which is so astonishing for a car of this size and luxury that it borders on the frightening.

None of that comes cheap, of course. The S550 Cabriolet starts at $132,325 – before Mercedes' legendary options list weighs in – while the AMG S63 Cabriolet kicks off at $177,325. If you want to really impress the neighbors, though, you might want to hold on a little longer, for when the Mercedes-AMG S65 arrives, with its 6.0-liter Biturbo V8 and $250,000 sticker.
