2017 BMW 530i Gallery

Entry point to BMW's latest 5 Series line-up, the 2017 530i could've been a purist's nightmare. No inline-six under the hood, with BMW opting instead for a 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine. You get 248 HP, but none of that sweet six-cylinder soundtrack.

In the end, though, the 530i transcends its powertrain. Adequate power for the road added to the very latest in technology – much of it borrowed liberally from the larger, more expensive 7 Series – adds up to a car that wears its geek credentials on its sleeve. If you've ever wanted to control your music with gestures, get a top-notch massage on the freeway, and enter Matrix-style "bullet time" in the parking lot, this is the sedan for you.

The downside is that none of that comes cheap. The 530i starts at around $52k including destination, but tick the options boxes and it's easy to add a further $20k to that.
