Grand Theft Auto IV gets April 29 release date

If there was one gaming franchise that was the most notorious for getting people like Jack Thompson up in arms over excessive violence and such, it would be Grand theft Auto. Sure, the first two games passed by mostly unnoticed, however, Grand Theft Auto III and subsequent titles have earned the hatred of parents everywhere. On that wonderful note, I'm happy to inform you that Grand Theft Auto IV now has an official release date.

We're still a couple months away from the big launch, but April 29th will be here before you know it. Of course, two months gives people like Jack Thompson plenty of time to market the game to the entire country. He will no doubt make some kind of big deal out of it, regardless of the fact that he's not allowed to take any action against Rockstar Games.

I for one am looking forward to this game. If it only provides me with a similar experience as I've come to expect from the franchise, I'll be happy. I don't doubt that it will keep me entertained with its increased amounts of sex, violence and all-around crudeness. Yes, people will argue that these sorts of games desensitise the youth of this country to violent acts and even encourage them. I completely disagree, as I can't even remember the last time I beat up a hooker, dumped her off and stole her cash.
