Google Worth Slightly Less Than Apple

The tides are changing in the technology world and Apple is now worth slightly more than Google, each company's value coming in at $158.8B and $157.3, respectively. And although these numbers are impressive, it is unclear how Google will deal with the competition in the future.

Though Apple and Google target different markets and have completely different products, there is still a grey area there. Thomas Claburn from Informationweek notes that "if Google wants to remain relevant in the post-PC era, it needs to get serious about hardware. Google needs a phone, and possibly a PC."

This may very well be the solution for Google to step up their relevance in both the PC and mobile market. Of course, until we see some product announcements and releases, it will be hard to say how their efforts would pay off.
