Google Search adds more ways to track politics

Google's newest politics-centric Search tweak brings information on issues, live results, delegate counts, and voting reminds for users interested in following the 2016 election season. This follows Google's recent partnership with Fox News to help cover the recent Republican debate, and will result in relevant data being delivered in Google Now.

First among the new updates is the inclusion of candidate statements directly in search results. These statements cover important topics, such as taxes and immigration, and aim to make it easier for individuals to stay up to date on what candidates are all about. Quotes will also be pulled from news articles and presented as snippets in search.

In addition, Google also wants to make it easier to see results from the primaries and to track how each candidate is faring. To do this, users merely have to search "primary results" (or "resultados de la election primaria" for Spanish speakers) to see both the election schedule and the live results as they become available. This will be available in both English and Spanish.

Finally, in a bid to make sure people get out and vote, Google is using its Google Now cards to keep people up to date, and to send out reminders to go vote in the local primaries. Election results will be provided in both English and Spanish via cards, assuming the user has Google Now enabled.
