Google Pixel 3 prices drop as new devices hit FCC

It would appear that Google's getting ready to release something new – something like a pair of new smartphones. The Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL are currently in a price-cut sort of situation at the Google Store. This is a situation of the sort we'd expect just before the release of a new set of replacement devices. But it's not time, is it? Hasn't it only been a short span of time since the Pixel 3 and 3 XL were first released?

Your hunch and/or memory are right – it's only been a short while since the Google Pixel 3 was first released. It was October of 2018 when we saw the Pixel 3 hit shelves for the first time. The first three releases of Google Pixel smartphones suggest a release pattern: once a year, two phones, both in October. But what good is an unchanging release schedule in an always-evolving market? It's time for a new schedule.

It's also right about time we get in deep on the newest set of leaks. We've seen two Google Pixel "Lite" phones popping up here and there over the last several months, always in relatively rare circumstances. Almost as if they were real leaks, not just day-by-day plants like we've seen in recent months by OTHER brands. No funny business, alright there?

A pair of Google devices appeared at the FCC this week in reports from watchers suggesting the Google Pixel 3 Lite and Google Pixel 3 Lite XL might be ready for business. The models went by numbers G020C and G020G, which tells us virtually nothing – other than they're not exactly the same as previously-rumored Pixel 3 Lite and 3 XL Lite models, one of which was tipped to roll with model number G020B.

The Google Pixel 3 Lite and 3 Lite XL were previously rumored to come with 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 or 610 processors, and cameras with quality much like that of the more expensive predecessors.

OR, since the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are currently $200 cheaper than normal right now, maybe they'll be very SIMILAR in price – until October comes up once again. But let's not imagine our lives away – take a peek at the other phones and such that are out right NOW, out in the SlashGear main feed – right now!
