Google Glass hits UK, no Union Jack model in sight

After being relegated to the US, and limited to a semi-closed beta, Google Glass is opening up. Earlier today, the device support page had the UK listed, and shortly after opened up for sales overseas. The pricing, unfortunately for our UK readers, is similarly steep to the US variant.

For about £1,000, you can snag your own Google Glass. You can snag a set in Shale, Sky, Tangerine, Cotton, or Charcoal, and even get frames from Google's titanium collection as an add-on. Technically those interested are still "Explorers", and will get a free additional shade for being an "early" adopter.

Glass in the UK marks the first time the wearable has been available outside the US, as the rollout has been slow. While Google's face-wearable is technically open to the public for purchase, it has yet to make its way to an actual retail location. Glass also sees its best reception in enterprise and medical fields, with a much cooler response elsewhere, so a consumer release may not be in the cards just yet.

The listing notes shipments will go out in 1-2 business days, with overseas shipping taking a touch longer than those in the US realize. It's not clear if those UK Developers interested in getting Glass will be able to pick theirs up at I/O later this week, but if you know the right folks, we bet you could work that angle.
