Google fiber tipped to gain voice services

Google has been rolling out its Google Fiber internet service around the country slowly and much to the chagrin of internet providers already in place in the cities Google has chosen. Reports indicate that Google is now set to add a new voice service that some people in Google Fiber cities can opt for.

Two people claim to have received invitations from Google to try a new service called Google Fiber Phone. Fiber Phone has many of the features that Google Voice users will be familiar with. Those features include voicemail, transcriptions and automatic call screening based on the time of day.

The invites to try Google Fiber Phone have reportedly been going out for the past month to those who participate in the Google Fiber Trusted Tester program. That is a program where Google Fiber users opt in to try new additions to their Fiber service.

Google already offers internet and TV via fiber and the addition of phone would give Google all three major services offered by many of the giants in the cable industry. Google also offers Project Fi, its own cellular service opening the door for it to roll out some interesting bundles for customers in covered cities. Part of the Trusted Tester program is keeping things Google is testing confidential, clearly at least two people ignored that aspect.
