Google app for iOS updated with 3D Touch support

The Google app for iOS has been updated with 3D Touch support, giving iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users some added functionality. Users can, for example, hard press on the Google app's icon to pull up shortcuts for common activities: voice search, image search, and search. The update brings with it a couple other changes, as well, that aren't limited to the latest iPhone models.

Many apps have added support for 3D Touch, with each using it to offer features ideal for their particular users. Instagram, for example, now supports the technology, as does Skype, Tumblr, Facebook, and many more. We've got a list of apps that support 3D Touch, but it's just the tip of the iceberg at this point.

In addition to new 3D Touch support for the iPhone, those with iPad have gotten Slide Over and Split View support, making it possible to put apps side by side for efficiency.

Finally, just in time for the holidays, the iOS app has a few additional details when it comes to local businesses and other places — they show holiday hours and, even more useful, give information about what time of the day is busiest (for that business), enabling visitors to dodge the crowds.

The app can be downloaded now from iTunes.
