Google adds LyricFind song lyrics search results

Figuring out what the artist is saying in your favorite songs just got easier with a new deal announced by Google and LyricFind. Google and LyricFind have signed a multiple year deal that will display song lyrics in search results at Google. Under the new deal Google users will be able to search for lyrics to a specific song and have most of the lyrics pulled up for the track.

The deal means that Google users won't need to click through to another site to get the words to their favorite songs. The lyrics search feature rolled out today on Google in the US and internationally. LyricFind says that the deal with Google means that publishers and songwriters will see millions of dollars in additional revenue from the deal.

LyricFind CEO Darryl Ballantyne said, "It should be a significant revenue stream. I can't get into the rates, but we expect it to be millions of dollars generated for publishers and songwriters as a result of this. It's all based on usage. Royalties are paid based on the number of times a lyric is viewed. The more it's viewed, the more publishers get paid."

One caveat to the LyricFind search results is that while most of the lyrics are listed inline with search results, to view all the lyrics you do have to click through to Google Play for full lyrics. LyricFind has been in operation since 2004 and manages the rights to lyrics from over 4,000 publishers. The company supports 100 countries now and plans to expand that to 200 countries over the next year. This new deal will certainly affect other lyric sites out there with Google users no longer needing to click to their sites revenues will certainly drop.
