Garmin ecoRoute hd adds vehicle diagnostics to GPS device

Most of us have had at least one car in our lifetime that had a check engine light come on unexpectedly. That always leads us to wonder if it's nothing but a filter or something that needs to go to the shop right away. Garmin has unveiled a new device for its GPS systems called the ecoRoute hd that turns the GPS device into a vehicle diagnostics center.

The small device plugs into the OBD II port on all computer controlled vehicles and wirelessly send information about the vehicle to the GPS device in real time. The system can read error codes and allows the user to reset warning lights.

The device also sends other data to the GPS device screen like temperature readings, RPM, timing, and much more. The device is compatible with nuvi 1260, 1370, 1390, 1490, and 160 GPS devices as well as others. The device will ship in March for $149.99.
