Galaxy Watch Active official: Blood Pressure Monitoring in play

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active was revealed this afternoon by Samsung at their big Galaxy S10 event. This device is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Watch in many respects, but it's less expensive, and it's got the ability to monitor your Blood Pressure. This device also comes in a number of interesting colors and rolls with a wide variety of official watch bands right out the gate.

The blood pressure monitoring in the Galaxy Watch Active works with the app called My BP Lab. This app and the monitoring itself represents a project jointly developed with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Even though this new sensor system is in play, the device still has 5ATM + IP68 / MIL-STD-810G durability / military standard toughness.

Dimensions for the Galaxy Watch Active are 39.5 x 39.5 x 10.5mm and 25g (Without Strap). The display is a 1.1-inch (28.1mm) Circular Super AMOLED (360 x 360) with Full Color Always On Display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The strap is a standard 20mm, and the battery is 230mAh large. Charging this device will work with WPC based wireless charging wireless chargers – right through the back of the watch.

Inside the device rolls with a Exynos 9110 1.15 GHz processor, and the watch runs Tizen OS 4.0. Inside this watch is also 0.75GB + 4GB memory, and connectivity is highly decent. This device has Bluetooth4.2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, and GPS/Glonass/Beidou/Galileo. Sensors include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, HR Sensor, and a Light Sensor.

Interesting beyond the norm is the fact that this watch includes not one, but two straps right out the gate. There's a Small Strap attached to the watch in the box, and a "Large Strap" is also available (in the box). The watch also comes with a standard wireless charger and the standard paper guides.

The Galaxy Watch Active will cost users approximately $200 USD. Users will be able to choose from four colors: Black, Silver, Rose Gold, and Green. Users can choose from a variety of official Samsung straps to buy separately, too, including Orange, Light Blue, White, Yellow, Light Pink, Green, Black, and Light Gray. This watch will begin to be made available on March 8th, 2019.
