Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820 to target US and China

We've seen a bunch of different leaks on the Galaxy S7 smartphone over the last few weeks. One of those leaks claimed that the S7 would come in two models with one using a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and the other using Samsung's own Exynos chip. The thing we were wondering is where each model would be offered.

A new rumor has surfaced claiming that Samsung will target the largest markets with the Snapdragon powered version of the S7 smartphone. That means China and the US will get the Snapdragon version of the S7. Some of the smaller markets will get S7 devices with the Exynos chip.

The Snapdragon 820 is the chip that will be used inside the device in key markets. Other markets tipped to get the Samsung chip include Europe, Southeast Asia, and South Korea. The S7 will launch in 2016 and the Snapdragon 820 itself is tipped for an early 2016 launch.

It seems likely that the new S7 will be the halo device for Qualcomm to show off its latest chip. The company can use some good press after it had issues with the performance of the Snapdragon 810 release previously. That poor performance led Samsung to go with its own Exynos in the S6 helping profitability and market share for that chip.
