Galaxy S10: 5 things we'll see on February 20

Today we're talking about expectations for Samsung's next big event. Based on what we've learned over the last few weeks AND what we've learned in just the past 24 hours, we've got a pretty interesting list to roll down. The following is all about that February 20th event that'll reveal the Galaxy S10, first and foremost.

1. Samsung Galaxy S10 E

The Samsung Galaxy S10 E is the "Lite" version you might've heard of – or so we've been told this week. The "E" model makes more sense than Lite insomuch as the "Lite" versions of Galaxy phones in the past have indeed been lesser than their non-lite companions. Samsung doesn't want that mental image in your brain anymore.

The Galaxy S10 E will be smaller than the Galaxy S10, and it'll have no in-display fingerprint reader, and it will probably have a smaller battery, and a flat display instead of curved, and maybe it'll come in different colors. Actually it'll probably be coming in most of the same colors save a few model-specific colors in select markets around the world – that'll make the most sense.

2. The Samsung Galaxy S10 itself

In the Samsung Galaxy S10 we'll have a smartphone that's just a bit more than a standard iterative step past its predecessor. This device will likely have an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an in-display camera (punched through a hole in the display panel), and a lovely set of cameras on its back.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite:

• Display: 5.8-inches (flat)

• Back Cameras: 2x lens

• Front Camera: 1x punch-hole lens

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Side-mounted

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

• Battery: 3000mAh

Samsung Galaxy S10:

• Display: 6.1-inches (curved)

• Back Cameras: 2x lens

• Front Camera: 1x punch-hole lens

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Ultrasonic in-display

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

• Battery: 3500mAh

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus:

• Display: 6.44-inches (curved)

• Back Cameras: 3x lens

• Front Cameras: 2x punch-hole lens (pill shaped)

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Ultrasonic in-display

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

• Battery: 4000mAh

Above you'll see a set of specifications that are based on tips and rumors from the past several weeks. Do not mistake these specifications for finalized specs from Samsung – that's not what's going on here. Instead, use them as a guide of expectations.

3. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

The "Plus" model will feature more cameras than the Galaxy S10 E and S10, on both sides of the phone. If you're looking for a more pill-shaped sort of hole punched into your display, this is your winner. This device will likely be the most extravagant Samsung smartphone to date, when it's released. It'll keep that distinction until the Galaxy S10 5G comes to bear.

4. The Galaxy S10 Beyond, 5G

The 5G-capable smartphone from Samsung, the first in the collection for Samsung, will be a Galaxy S10 sort of device. It'll be very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, but it'll have a couple different features, probably different colors, and a different price. This will likely be Samsung and Verizon's first full-fledged 5G smartphone.

5. Samsung Galaxy Fold

The Samsung Galaxy F, or whatever they'll end up calling it, will almost certainly make an appearance at the event. While it was a possibility that Samsung would keep this phone all to its self at its own unique event, it would seem that foldable displays are coming in hot and heavy. Samsung obviously doesn't want to give up the element of surprise here.

Where and When?

You can follow along with the event right here, in SlashGear's main news feed, starting on February 20th, 2019. This event will take place starting at 11AM PT (in the morning, for Pacific Time people, into lunchtime for others).
