Galaxy Note 8 release date, pre-release info, and carriers

Today Samsung revealed the release date, pre-release date, and mobile carrier info for the Galaxy Note 8. This includes Verizon, T-Mobile USA, AT&T, and Sprint – as well as the all-encompassing unlocked, SIM-free edition. This information comes amid our own first hands-on with the Galaxy Note 8, which includes one whole heck of a lot of info!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 works with a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ (2K) Super AMOLED Infinity Display. That last bit is Samsung's newest branding for what once was the "Edge Display", cascading off the left and right of the device downward, giving the impression that the display goes on beyond the borders of the device.

There is a tiny bit of a difference here in the Infinity Display between the Note 8 and the Galaxy S8 – it's slightly flatter. Because the Galaxy Note 8 works with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity for the S Pen, this device has edges that aren't quite so extreme. This is true of all versions of the Galaxy Note 8 with all carriers.

Inside is a 10nm processor, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in the US or Samsung's own Exynos 8895 elsewhere. In the USA, Qualcomm's smartphone chip system includes the ability to roll with gigabit Cat16 LTE with 4/5 carrier-aggregation for up to 1 Gbps downloads and 150 Mpbs uploads – carrier dependent, of course.

Pre-orders from Samsung will begin on August 24th, 2017. As of the posting of this article, on August 23rd, pre-orders begin tomorrow. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will begin showing up in stores as of September 15th, 2017. Check the gallery below for updates for more info from each individual carrier as they make their plans public! This release will come with Deepsea Blue and Maple Gold versions – but not at first. Not in the United States, anyway. For those living in the United States, all pre-orders will start with Midnight Black and Orchid Gray. Pre-orders will also be rewarded with either a 128GB microSD card and fast wireless charger OR a Samsung Gear 360 camera. Be sure to check with the store from which the device is ordered to confirm which extra(s) you'll be getting – and stick around for our full review!
