Galaxy A20 is free for those switching to Metro by T-Mobile

Samsung's Galaxy A series don't often get to the US unlike the higher-end Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. When they do, they're often available only through carriers. That does seem to be the with the more affordable models, like the Galaxy A20 that's now available on T-Mobile's Metro network. But more than just being affordable, the phone is practically being offered for free if you're switching from another carrier.

The Galaxy A20 might not be something to die for but if you're in need of a free phone, it's definitely better than nothing. The phone has a 6.4-inch HD+ screen with a small notch hiding an 8 megapixel camera. It's powered by an Exynos 7885 with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. On the back is surprisingly a dual camera setup with 13 MP and 5 MP sensors.

The phone costs around $239.99 by itself but Metro is enticing switchers with a $239.99 instant rebate. In other words, the phone is practically free for those bringing their numbers to Metro's network. The carrier makes no mention of which plans the phone will be available on.

The launch is part of Metro's Back-to-School promo to convince families to switch to the network as part of the preparation for the next academic period. Metro will also be making available the Galaxy A10e and the LGK40 for that same campaign.

Next week, it will be singing a slightly different tune. Metro will be launching the LG Stylo 5, the OEM's latest stylus-enabled phablet. The Moto G7 Plus will also be joining the ranks as the "pure" Android budget offering next week.
