Foxconn confirm handset price increases but deny deal poaching

Foxconn has seemingly confirmed that it is increasing manufacturing prices for clients such as Apple, Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, with a spokesperson telling DigiTimes that most of their clients have accepted the new quotes.  However, the company has also denied that rivals such as Compal are attempting to use the increase to poach deals, as is rumored by industry sources.

Instead, Foxconn says, most handset manufacturers are facing the same increases in labor and component costs, and would be unable to drop their own quotes.  The company – a subdivision of Hon Hai Industry – has agreed to increase workers' salaries to help reduce the number of suicides among employees.
