Fortnite Fall Skirmish starts September 21: everything you need to know

Earlier this week, Epic Games announced that it would be launching a Fortnite Fall Skirmish event, though it didn't have too many details at the time. We knew the event would kick off soon, but now we finally have a specific date: next Friday, September 21. Unlike Summer Skirmish, the new iteration of it will run for a total of six weeks with $10 million total in awards.

The competition will build upon the foundation Epic Games set over the past couple months with its Summer Skirmish. Under the new Fall Skirmish, players will compete on designated days for an award pool totaling $10 million.

As with Summer Skirmish, the new Fall Skirmish will only be open to players who receive an invitation. The Fall Skirmish competition will end at Twitchcon on October 26 to 28, says Epic. The company has a "new approach" for the competition versus its Summer Skirmish, including the launch of two formats: Entertainment play and Competitive play.

Both formats are expected to join Epic's large scale events starting in 2019. Players will represent "themed teams" during Fall Skirmish, playing to get points that are assigned based on which format they're playing in.

As well, Epic plans to have new challenges for each of the six weeks, including golfing, ATK races, high-skill competition, and mini games. Though we don't know who will be playing during Fall Skirmish week one, nor what the format will be, Epic says it will have those details available next week.
