Fix Facebook after the latest update

Facebook today began removing Friends Lists Feeds from their main app and web browser site. This feature is one of a collection that'll be removed from the mix this year due to a culling of the weak of sorts. As a Facebook representative suggested, "We're shutting down this lesser-used feature to focus our efforts on improving the main News Feed experience."

"People won't be able to view custom fees from lists of friends," said the Facebook representative. "[But] they'll still be able to create and edit friends lists and share just to these audiences whenever they post to Facebook." In other words, you won't be able to see what you want specifically, but you will be able to control who sees what you share.

Because Facebook is about consumption, not just connecting with friends. Facebook wants users to control what they see just a little less than they do right now. They're suggesting they're getting rid of this organization feature because not enough people use it – but imagine a world where the only tools we're allowed to use are the ones most people use. There wouldn't be any more sporks, that's for sure.

Assuming you're a spork sort of person, and you want to be able to control your Facebook feed a bit more than everyone else, there is a way to do it. It involves the removal of friends from your news feed without removing said people AS friends.

In the upper right-hand corner of any one person's profile page, there's a button that, by default, says "Following." Tap that button, and move the selection down to Unfollow. You'll remain Friends with this person on Facebook, but you will no longer see their posts in your main news feed. Simple as that.

I first started unfollowing people to attempt to cut my Facebook stress to zero back in October of 2015. It's worked out pretty gosh-darned good so far.
