Fitness and Workout apps make Apple Watch active

This morning the Apple Watch was revealed, and alongside staple apps like Twitter and Facebook, Apple's own Fitness and Workout apps have appeared. These apps will use the Apple Watch's accelerometer and heart rate monitor. They'll also use your iPhone's GPS.

You will, after all, need an iPhone to make the Apple Watch work in the first place. The Apple Watch will be your key to fitness – if only in its ability to tell how often you've stood up in the last hour.

That's one of the most interesting, simple functions of Apple's Fitness app. Telling you that "you've been sitting for a while." It'll also tell you to "take a minute to stand up."

For fitness, Apple appears ready to go the extra mile. You'll be able to work with this device with iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5s, 5c, and 5. Before that, you'll be outta luck.
